The University of Waterloo Equestrian Club, founded in 2006, is an entirely student-run organization that offers horse enthusiasts the opportunity to participate in events, take riding lessons, or even show with our hunt-seat equitation team while at school.
From 2006 to 2012 the Club was a part of FEDS before making the transition to a Campus Rec sports club in 2013. Led by a team of student executives, the Club facilitates affordable events centered around aspects of the equestrian sport, catering to riders and horse enthusiasts of all levels.
The Club is active during the Fall and Winter terms of the school year, running on average one event each month of the term!
The Club includes a $12 membership fee to join, which allows us to offset event costs, and includes an Equestrian Club t-shirt for members. Club members are asked only to pay for the events they choose to participate in, with many events being further discounted if you wear your Club t-shirt! Events vary in price, with at least one free event hosted each term.
Past events have included:
* Stable Management, Grooming, & Show Preparation Clinics
* Information Sessions about Hunter and Equitation Judging
* Horse Show Visits
* Prince Phillip Pony Games Days
* Barn Tours
* Trips to the Royal Winter Fair & Medieval Times
* Club Dinners & Royal Winter Fair Live-Stream Nights
* Miniature Pony Driving
* Fall & Winter Trail Rides
Each term we organize English riding lessons. We facilitate car-pooling to and from lessons as well as organize riders into groups of no more than 4 per lessons based on level of experience. Our lesson barn, Riverside Stables, is located in New Hamburg Ontario and is a 15-minute drive from the University. If you are interested in lessons, please send us an email and our Lesson Coordinator will get in touch with you!
